Based in Shepherd's Bush, West London, England, Queens Park Rangers Football Club, commonly known as QPR, is a professional football team. They compete in the EFL Championship, which is the second division of the English football league system. QPR has been playing their home matches at Loftus Road since 1917, with a couple of brief stints at the White City Stadium. One of their notable rivalries is with other clubs in West London, particularly in the West London derby. Originally founded as Christchurch Rangers in 1882, the club changed its name after merging with St Judes Institute four years later. The location of the merger was near the Queen's Park and Kensal areas, which led to the adoption of their current name. QPR achieved success by winning the West London League in 1898-99, subsequently joining both the Southern League and Western League. They claimed titles in both leagues and were elected to the Football League in 1920. Initially, they played in the Third Division South but secured promotion as champions in the 1947-48 season. After a period of relegation in 1952, QPR experienced a memorable season in 1966-67 under the leadership of Alec Stock, winning the Third Division and the League Cup. They achieved promotion from the Second Division in 1967-68 but were unfortunately relegated after a single season in the top-flight First Division. QPR made a strong comeback, earning promotion again in 1972-73 and narrowly finishing as runners-up to the English football champions in 1975-76, just one point behind Liverpool. Following a relegation in 1979, they reached the FA Cup final in 1982 as a second-tier club, but were defeated by Tottenham Hotspur in a replay. In 1982-83, QPR won another Second Division title and reached the League Cup final in 1986 as runners-up. They remained in the top-flight for thirteen years and were among the founding members of the Premier League in 1992. However, they faced relegation in 1996. Relegation struck again in 2001, but QPR secured promotion from the third tier at the end of the 2003-04 season. The club achieved promotion as winners of the Championship in 2010-11, only to face another relegation from the Premier League after two seasons. However, they quickly regained promotion through the play-offs in 2014. Unfortunately, they were relegated once more in the following season and have remained in the Championship since then.
